Exploring Parasites and Pathways to Optimal Wellness with Dr. Patti Gonzalez
Retired chiropractor turned health concierge, Dr. Patti Gonzalez, joins us to share her inspiring journey from a bustling chiropractic practice to a more holistic wellness approach. Driven by the desire to spend more time with her daughter, Dr. Patti reveals the joys and struggles of balancing a demanding career with family life. Her story is a profound reminder that returning to our health's essence is vital. Together, Shelly and Dr. Patti uncover how focusing on nutrition, supplementation, and comprehensive health coaching can transform one's well-being.
Have you ever wondered how parasites could be affecting your health without you even knowing it? One of the pivotal topics discussed in this episode is the often-overlooked issue of parasites and their impact on health. Dr. Patti explains that parasites are not just a concern for international travelers or those with poor hygiene. Instead, they can affect anyone, often unbeknownst to them, through everyday activities like swimming in natural bodies of water or interacting with pets. The conversation sheds light on the importance of regular parasite cleansing, even for those who consider themselves healthy, as it can lead to remarkable improvements in energy levels, digestion, and overall vitality.
This discussion is a wake-up call to prioritize not just good health but optimal health, encouraging listeners to consider a parasite cleanse as a step towards feeling their best.
Amidst the modern world's toxic overload, Dr. Patti and Shelly help us understand the history of toxin exposure and why comprehensive body cleansing is more critical than ever. Through Dr. Patti's practice, she offers a comprehensive overview and guidance to help others come back to their organic blueprint, focusing on wellness from a holistic perspective. With her expertise and tools like a parasite quiz, ultimately, as the name of her business implies, Dr. Patti's goal is to help others come back to their innate roots, being the healthiest possible, living a life of energy and longevity.

Like. I believe that we were all given a unique template and we've done a really good job of our whole lives at messing up that template. How do we like scrape off the layers and flatten out the pages of the blueprint that we were given so that we can actually it's like it's about returning to your innate root.

Speaker 2:Welcome everyone to Words of Wellness. I am very excited to introduce our guest to you today. She is a retired chiropractor turned health concierge. She believes in optimal health and not that it is just a destination, but rather in finding the original state of wellness and finding our innate roots when it comes to our overall wellness. She has curated a holistic approach to restore your health blueprint, focusing on gut health, parasites and other root cause issues. Dr Patti Gonzalez, I am thrilled to have you on today. How are you?
Speaker 1:Oh, Shelly, I am fantastic and I really appreciate you having me on, Super excited to have this conversation.
Speaker 2:I am so excited. I know we've been talking about it for a while and I've just been really looking forward to this and just having the conversation with you, I know you're a wealth of knowledge and, for any of you listeners who might have heard, I had put on and will be doing it again a Moms who Flourish Wellness event and Dr Patty was gracious and generous enough to offer some of her valuable information and insight and education to us all, so it was really wonderful having you. So thank you again for doing that.
Speaker 1:You're so welcome.
Speaker 2:Really appreciate it. So let's dive right in. I know you have quite the history coming from being a chiropractor and that background that basically kind of laid the foundation for you as to what you're doing now. Right, yes, absolutely so. Share a little bit about that journey, how you transitioned.
Speaker 1:Yeah, absolutely. We were actually just talking, before we hit record, about being a mom and honestly, that quote unquote retirement, I still think it's weird I say retired from something, but that retirement from chiropractic came because, being a mom, I needed to shift and pivot a little bit. I had poured 16 years into my practice. My daughter was six or seven at the time that I retired and I found that she was really needing more of me and so I had to make a pivot and I was really excited for what that pivot looked like, because it really was. It already working with clients, my patients, in their overall health. So, besides adjusting them, I was also doing a lot of health coaching and we talked about nutrition, we talked about supplementation, we talked about gut health, like all the pieces that involved who they were as a human and their health. And what was interesting is I was like, oh, if I retire from chiropractic, I can continue doing this, I can continue doing those other pieces. And so that's where the pivot came in.
Speaker 1:I became a health concierge. I was really doing it already. I just now didn't have to adjust someone at the same time I was doing it, so that was a huge win and it really gave me more time, freedom to be able to be with my daughter, to be there for a pickup, to take her to school each day, to be more engaged in her life, and that, for me, was really important. Me growing up, I was a latchkey kid. Back in the day we would walk, my brother and I would walk to school together. We'd come home, we'd do our homework and then mom and dad would come home. That's just not possible in this day and age and I'm okay with that. But I also just wanted to give my daughter something different than I had and the full attention that she really was asking for.
Speaker 2:So I love this so much because we can go in so many different directions with this.
Speaker 2:But to first start with you, I want to give you credit and kudos for recognizing that, and I know a lot of moms aren't able to make that kind of a pivot and be home and I and I you know, I understand that and appreciate that and it just I know you feel the same way.
Speaker 2:I just feel so blessed I've been similar to you and the fact that I've been able to be there for most of all the drops off, drop offs and pickups, and the sports activities and all the things that come along with their schedules and same thing. Like you, I grew up with a single mom. My dad was around, but they were divorced and so mom was working and same thing. We would walk to school, we would come home same exact scenario, and my husband had similar, and so it's always been such a really priority like it is with you, I can see to be there as much as we possibly can, and I'm so grateful because, as we were talking before, we pushed record how quickly the years go and how quickly they grow up. It's amazing.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it sure is.
Speaker 2:So fast. So I love the title of concierge because that really just covers everything and I think that is I haven't come across that until I met you and I just I love that because it just you know you can, you can kind of take care of all of it and I think that's wonderful.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and I think too, as I was trying to figure out cause, for a long time I was like, well, I'm a health coach, but I wasn't just a health coach. I dealt a lot with emotions and mindset. And so I was like, well, that's kind of health, but kind of not. It's the whole being, the whole person. And so the term concierge came up and I was like, oh yeah, that really fits.
Speaker 1:And the other thing that I find with me is that, if I can't figure it out, I'm well connected with a lot of different people. I'm going to send somebody to the right person. This is not about me, this is not about my ego and what things I can figure out and do. If I have a great friend who is fantastic in nutrition and I want to send people to her, I do, I know nutrition, sure, could I create some things? Sure, but I want to send someone to the right, the expert that's going to be able to help them.
Speaker 1:So I think that also encompasses the concierge piece, because, like in the olden days before Google and internet, right, we would go to a hotel and there would be a concierge there, like, what do you want to do? What restaurant or attraction or whatever it might be, and that concierge didn't serve that person. They pointed them in the right direction, and so I think that's really where my heart lies is I want to point people in the right direction to help them in their health. I have some specialties and I know enough about a lot of things that I can get somebody in the right direction. So, yeah, I'm concierge, really felt right for what it is that I do.
Speaker 2:It really fits.
Speaker 2:And I boy, we are one in the same, because I it's funny I was just messaging someone this morning. She had a question for me regarding protein, and so I responded and I and I said, you know, let me know what other questions you have, because you know, I know I can answer some, but what I don't know and what I can't answer, I will find someone who does know. And I have said that for decades with my students as well, is that it's always been the goal to bring accurate information and bring clarity to others and areas. Like you're saying that maybe it's not our expertise, we certainly know someone who has that expertise and I think that's so important and it's such, it's such a blessing to, to to have like all these individuals that we know and that just I think that network keeps expanding right, that we can refer people to or ask questions, and so I just I love that and I have felt the same exact way as you.
Speaker 2:I feel like to me, just complete holistic wellness encompasses what I do as well, and I I've never been real, I don't know, I don't like you, like coach doesn't really cover it. I feel it's more like mentorship and guiding people and educating and then leading them again to the right information or the right person that can specifically help them. So I really, I really love that idea. We're very similar in that way.
Speaker 1:For sure yes, which is why we connect so well.
Speaker 2:I know totally, I mean from the very, very beginning, and I just and I've appreciated you so much from the from the beginning and you have a, so tell us again and for our listeners, you're located in Arizona, correct? I am Yep, and you have a, your own practice, a physical place where people can come.
Speaker 1:I do so technically. I have two separate businesses that, by the grace of God, have blended together. So my health concierge work, like you had mentioned, is gut health, hormones, and it dives deeper into some of the root cause issues of mold and mercury toxicity, metal toxicity. We're getting to some of the deeper issues. And, yeah, I also. My other business is called tight club, so it's a holistic body sculpting studio. That kind of goes. It's actually it goes a whole lot deeper than that.
Speaker 1:So while women come to me for an aesthetic piece and men, there's also a much deeper correlation between your overall health, because what we do is we not only do cryostimulation but we do fascial compression and lymphatic drainage. And, for those of you who don't know, your fascia is just underneath your skin and it actually is everywhere. So there's no beginning and there's no end. It actually sends information faster than your nerve system. So we store emotions in our fascia, we store memories, we store everything in our fascia.
Speaker 1:So if we're not healthy, then we can look to releasing some fascia moving the lymphatic system as well, because our lymphatic system is really the river of health within our body. So if we can get those two things moving, you can actually clear out a lot of one stuck energy, two old, old, old injuries and or like trauma, like emotional, spiritual pieces. And so when I brought tight club in about a year ago, I was like, well, this makes perfect sense. It's the external piece to what I'm already doing with the health concierge work on the inside, and that to me is true holistic wellness, helping somebody not only deal with the physical in their body but also with the internal. And then there's also obviously an emotional and spiritual component to it.
Speaker 2:For sure no, and I love that that. Just it compliments each other so well and it's so fascinating because I think I think a lot of people I mean it's becoming more and more known but having that kind of a service, like you're saying, where you can flush out the toxins and flush out some of the negative energy and whatever it is we're holding onto, I think that is a real new. I feel like it's kind of a newer concept for individuals, especially I mean people for myself been around for a long time, you know, I've been in this profession for a few decades and so it's newer for like myself and I just I'm excited by it. I find it so fascinating and I seriously can't wait to get myself back out to Arizona so I can come to you. I can't wait.
Speaker 1:Oh, I would love that.
Speaker 2:It would be amazing, and we'll. I'll be sharing, of course, all of your information in the show notes, but so you do you do one-on-one as well, or is it strictly people who are coming into your, your place of business, for your services?
Speaker 1:So we my coaching is one-on-one and I also run a group parasite cleanse program. It's a 30 day protocol and that is obviously you're doing the cleanse yourself, but there's a group of people doing it together, so there's a lot of community that's created. There's questions, there's success when parasites actually pass. People send their pictures in and some people don't join the chat for that reason. However, yeah, but there's, so there's a group aspect.
Speaker 1:That way, I do one-on-one coaching with people for their gut health and hormones and just any health issue that they have going on and and honestly, it's for things that are more unexplained.
Speaker 1:So people who have been down the road of well, my doctor says my tests are normal or I've done lab work or I have this symptom, but nobody can really tell me why I have it or what, what the root cause is. That's where I really love to help someone, because it's like a puzzle for me and I've gone through my own health journey and put the pieces in the right place to be able to transform my own health over the last several years, able to transform my own health over the last several years, and now I really feel like just honored and purposed by God to be able to like help others in that that realm as well. So, and then obviously, the tight club is a one-on-one. I'm going to work on one body at a time and I have a great team around me because the goal is to open multiple locations of that so we can serve more.
Speaker 2:I love it. Well, let's open one out by me.
Speaker 1:I know we'll work on it.
Speaker 2:We'll have to talk about that for sure.
Speaker 2:So you know this is so great and I love also the work and this is something that you shared at at our moms who flourish wellness event about the parasites, and I know we got on quite the conversation and had some great questions in regards to it. But I would love for you to expand on that a little bit because I think that many people, including myself, to be honest, don't realize how much of an issue that is and how that's affecting just about every single person. And I know for me personally I'm I really make a conscientious effort to to choose non-toxic products and I do a cellular cleanse every month and and and take these steps and and. But this is just the next step. You know I feel like there's anything that we can do to help us be healthier, to clear out the gunk, the toxins, the parasites. It's like.
Speaker 2:To me it's bring it on. You know I'm always open and want to try something new or anything that's going to help with our health ultimately. So can you share a little bit about what's happening with parasites and what we can do? I know you have the cleanse. I don't know how much detail you want to go into.
Speaker 1:Well, we'll keep it pretty PG. On the podcast you can come find me I talk about poop all the time with people.
Speaker 1:It's so important. We need to be excreting well in order to truly be healthy For sure. What you said earlier, shelley, I think is really important, and everybody. I will go out on a limb and say that everybody has parasites to some extent, and I can say that confidently because of the foods that we eat. And here's the thing For a long time, I thought well, I've traveled to Africa, I've gone to Mexico, that's where I picked up the parasites, and I think that's what a lot of people think too.
Speaker 1:Well, you've traveled internationally. They don't have the same food handling processes that we do, or cleanliness, or whatever, but it's actually not the case. Like we, there are parasites in water. There are parasites and lakes, rivers and streams. So if you've ever swam in a lake, river or stream, you probably picked up a parasite and you don't know it. If you have pets, um, if a dog has ever licked your face or a cat that has walked on your counter, you have parasites. And so that's one of the biggest things that I think needs to be shared is parasites are not a unique thing to international travel or someone who is really unhealthy.
Speaker 1:Because, to be very honest, I was very. I was healthy from the outside. And yet when I started to do parasite cleansing, I was like holy cow. I had no idea I had so many parasites.
Speaker 1:And that's actually the feedback that I get often in the parasite cleanse group is people are like well, when does this stop? Like when, when, when do the parasites like go away? And it's when we clear them out. And so I have many people who either do a cleanse back to back for 60 days or they'll do one and then, three or four months later, they do another one. So this is not a one-time thing. I myself, in the last 18 months, have done five of them, and it's not difficult, you're not. A lot of people are like oh my gosh, am I going to be running to the bathroom? No, I, because of the way that I designed this. It's gentle, yet really effective. And, like you said, shelly, like you're healthy, you're already doing the things in life. You're doing a cellular cleanse once a month, your body is functioning well and taking it to the next level of doing a parasite cleanse really helps to open the body up and start to see changes in your health that you didn't realize were even related to the parasites.
Speaker 2:So well. I love what you bring up because I exactly like you. It was over about 10 years ago now, over a decade ago, that I adjusted some things in my nutrition and incorporated this cellular cleanse. And it's exactly like you're saying. I went into it going, I'm pretty energetic, I'm healthy, you know, we know what to do quote unquote but not realizing how much better I could feel, like I had no idea and honestly, I really was energetic, I was, for the most part, healthy.
Speaker 2:But then to experience it at a whole other level was very eyeopening for me. It was a huge light bulb moment because if you think about you know we're probably the minority coming into this, fairly healthy, so, and we notice a difference. So then I think of the individuals who maybe aren't taking the steps like we are. Oh my gosh, how much better can they really truly feel and not realize it and I talk about this a lot, how I feel, and you might experience this too but it seems like many people just come to accept how they're feeling or they just don't know. They don't know any difference, so they don't realize that they're, you know, feeling sluggish or they could have more energy because they just don't know any different. Amazing.
Speaker 1:The difference, or that they could sleep better, or that they could not feel bloated after they eat, or right, there's, there's so many things. Or they could wake up energized and feel refreshed, versus like, oh, I have to hit snooze for an hour because I just don't want to get out of bed. There's, there's differences. That will happen like that and, like you said, like people have just learned to live with the symptoms that they're dealing with and they're like well, this, my doctor said it was supposed to be like this, or I had to live with it, so I guess I have to you don't, you don't have to, you don't have to right, there's more out there, there's, and that's.
Speaker 2:That's such my, my big, and I'm sure you too. It's like I want everyone to like, feel their best and live a quality quality of life that is full of energy and and vitality. And, of course, not every single day is going to be like that, but it's out there, you know it's, it's possible for us. We just have to take these extra steps to experience it. And I think it's so interesting too. And more and more information is coming out about the effect of toxins and parasites on our energy, on our sleep, brain fog, all of these different things that we're experiencing and symptoms.
Speaker 2:I've been telling people more and more through the years that you know I'd be willing to bet it's come. It comes back to the toxins and what we're being exposed to, and that for some people is a new concept. But I just, truly. I had a friend the other day, just like she did this whole post about trouble sleeping, and I was, like you know, nutrition plays a part little protein before bend toxins, like. I don't think people don't always connect the dots just because they haven't been educated, they don't know. It's not their fault, right? So it's like up to us to kind of get that, get that word out there and help these individuals feel better and sleep better, like you're saying, because that's huge, absolutely, and I think a lot of people.
Speaker 1:The reason I focus on gut health is because it's connected to everything. Our gut is our second brain, so if your gut is unhealthy, then you're going to be unhealthy, and our food plays a huge role in that. So if we're not fueling our systems correctly and, like you said, if or we, if we're laden with toxins, then there's no way that we can be at our most optimal health. And I think that's where a lot of people are stuck nowadays and, honestly, more and more people are talking about gut health. More and more people are talking about lymph and fascia and the things that we've known and the things that we've been doing. It's becoming more mainstream, which I'm grateful for, and really being able to help people live to their full potential.
Speaker 2:Yes, I agree, it is being talked about more frequently, which is a great, great thing really. It's interesting and it's probably the same for you. You know being involved in the industry for so long and so much of this I have shared for many years with students at the college and not like really like shouting to everybody. This is what's going on, and now more and more and more of it's getting shared, and it's really exciting to see that and to hear it and to have hope that more and more people now are going to understand this and learn and and take the steps hopefully to help them be healthier and, like you say, live more of like life full of energy and vitality, because that's that's what it's all about, you know, and I I just feel bad when people don't have that or maybe they don't understand or they don't want to take the steps. Let's say Our bodies are miracles.
Speaker 1:Yes, absolutely, and that's where my business name came from Innate Roots. I believe that we were all given a unique template and we've done a really good job of our whole lives at messing up that template. How do we like scrape off the layers and flatten out the pages of the blueprint that we were given so that we can actually it's like it's about returning to your innate roots and your organic template of how you were created to live. And yeah, it's possible. I do know that because I've experienced it and I've watched so many others do the same.
Speaker 2:Right, and that's the proof.
Speaker 2:That's all. The proof that you need is seeing it happen in yourself and other people. And I just love, love that approach. To go back to, you know, the original blueprint. How do we get back to that? And it's crazy to think, and more and more again it's coming out about what we've been exposed to for well. I mean, what are we going back to? Now? They're talking about what? 50 years, like a long time.
Speaker 2:And you know when I first started putting together my masterclass on it's about toxins and healthy, clean living, and I have a book that has a timeline. It's like a history and and you've probably come across this as well, but I know, for me, I was shocked. And I have a book that has a timeline. It's like a history and and you've probably come across this as well but I know, for me, I was shocked and I have some of the history, the brief timeline, in my masterclass. But going back to 1901, when Monsanto first introduced pesticides, I was like, wow, like when I first started researching I didn't have no idea it went back that far, like when I first started researching, I didn't have no idea it went back that far.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's. It's pretty wild and we live, sadly, in such a toxic world. Now We've also become very used to it. Our bodies are pretty resilient and it can only handle so much and everybody. This is one of the things I talk about with a lot of my clients. We all have a bucket of health inside of us and our all of our buckets are different. All of our buckets are filled in different ways. All of our buckets have we want a lot of holes in the bottom so that things can drain. Our drainage pathways are really important, but everybody's bucket is getting overfilled so fast these days that there has to be a better way in order to be able to one stop the bucket from filling and to empty that bucket as quickly as we possibly can, because that's what real health is about.
Speaker 2:So true, that's a mic drop right there and we're done. I love that. I love that. I see I still see individuals who don't understand the necessity of doing these different types of of cleanses, not just to cleanse for one organ, but what you're doing in the whole cellular cleanse component because, like you're saying, our bodies have been, we are just bombarded every day and overloaded. So there's no way in a perfect world there was a way right, that our bodies and our organs could, could flush this out, but nowadays, because of being inundated for so long it, we need help.
Speaker 2:We just need help, for sure yeah.
Speaker 1:And that's why we're here. You and I get to help others.
Speaker 2:Yes, I love this and I feel like we could definitely talk for a long time. It's so fun. There's certain conversations where I'll get in with someone on my podcast and I'm like, okay, I know we have a timeframe here, but I feel like we could talk forever.
Speaker 1:For sure We'll come back and do a part two.
Speaker 2:We will do a part two and I am just so grateful to you for being here and grateful to you for what you do and the second that I make my next trip to Arizona, I will be letting you know. Oh, goody and um, we will put all of Dr Patty's information in the show notes, but what's the best place for people to reach out to you, Dr Patty's information?
Speaker 1:in the show notes. But what's the best place for people to reach out to you? Um, the best place is on Instagram, or they can go right to my website. Um, there's a form there you can fill out and we can connect that way too. Um, and again, instagram is Dr DR period Patty, p A T T I Gonzalez, g O N Z-E-Z, and then my website is innaterootscom. I also would love to put in the show notes too. I have created a parasite quiz, so to find out if you have parasites, or, I would say, how severe your impact is from parasites. So I'd love to put that in the show notes as well, because I think it's a real big eye for people, because some of the things, that some of the symptoms that show up, are very common, yet when combined together, they definitely point to parasites. So I think that's a really great resource for people to just start to understand. Oh, there is a potentially a bigger problem than I really thought.
Speaker 2:Yes, for sure, and we'll add that in for sure. Yeah, I'm excited. I'm excited to share you with my listeners and just to continue to be on this journey with you and learning from you and us collaborating. I'm loving it. I'm loving it. So, any last bits of advice or inspiration you want to leave with our listeners?
Speaker 1:Yeah, I want to encourage people because I think a lot of times our health can be kind of a heavy thing, and I want to encourage you if you are struggling in your health. I want to say that you're doing the best that you can with what you know now and there is opportunity for you to learn more and so reach out, find different resources. I know, shelley, you have a wealth of knowledge. You are a concierge in your own right and I'm here as well, and I'm sure there's many. I know there's many other resources out there. So continue seeking information and knowledge, because that's where the power comes, and also, wherever you are right now, give yourself grace Because, like I said, you're doing the best you can with the information you have in this moment, and there's always room for growth.
Speaker 2:That's perfect. I love that I. I second that 110%, so that's wonderful. Thank you again so much and appreciate you being here, and a huge thank you to our listeners. And, as always, do something for yourself and your wellness on this day and until next time. Everyone, have a beautiful, blessed rest of your week.
